Mooshine - theres a beauty to her, ain't it, even if you wont admit it. But for most people its nothing more than a drink, or even less, a legend only.
But there is more to Moonshine.
Unlike federal licensed alcohol, its never the same, it changes with every run the shiner makes, and a well-knowing shiner can make all kinds of shine, from the ones that bring you down to your knees till the ones who rocket you sky-high - all depending on his choices, skill and materials used, and of course - the location. A fella can brew shine anywhere, from his kitchen to the stove of a shared apartment kitchen to the back ends of the woods, but the ones run out in the back ends of the world, they always have a special spirit with them. One might now say "oh why, you believe some magic air sprinkled your mash", or "was it the secret tunnel ghost that blessed it", but it aint the location itself, it's the effect it has on the shiner - when you working with and off the land to make your shine, you make a relationship with it. You want it to be good, you want it to be a well tasting, generous one, so you oughta care for it or it gets all nasty, and you can do that only by living a way that has been forgotten by many - the way of the Moonshiner.
One might now ask himself why this is called "German Moonshining" - because it is exactly that. It's a blog about some individuals who decided to do something propably none have done before them: Learning the traditional ways of shining and bring it to Europe, where the law is generally far more open about alcohol and the distilling of it, France even allows stills up to a size that they can barely be moveable in one piece for unregistered private use, but this still ain't no moonshine - which is why we decided to bring it here.
The idea is not driven by profit, nor is profit a desired outcome - it is ensuring that one of the most mystified and dramatized ways of living that spawned some of the most unique fellas we know does not die out - in fact, we wish to spread the idea of the shining way, the freedom it holds and the unique art it is.
In this blog, we will regularly post about shining as a way of living, share with you some stories we heard, and share with some of our own or those which might happen in the future, and give you an insight to a world almost every other person is oblivious of.
